The Republic of Spook Box is a mammoth, safe nation, renowned for its ubiquitous missile silos, keen interest in outer space, and suspicion of poets. The hard-nosed, cynical population of 6.354 billion Spook Boxians are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

The large, well-organized government prioritizes Defense, with Education, Law & Order, and Healthcare also on the agenda, while International Aid is ignored. The average income tax rate is 43.6%.

The Spook Boxian economy, worth 335 trillion dollars a year, is fairly diversified and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with significant contributions from Retail, Automobile Manufacturing, and Woodchip Exports. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 52,865 dollars, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 3.8 times as much as the poorest.

The "feminist protest" defence is increasingly common for cases of armed robbery, children who display even minimal sporting aptitude are immediately assigned a personal trainer, search and rescue forces now accept cheques and all major credit cards, and politicians are often seen with soldiers pointing guns at their heads. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Spook Box's national animal is the dove, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to toxic air pollution.

Spook Box is ranked 93,722^nd in the world and 4,852^nd in Lazarus for Largest Black Market, with 2.87 trillion Standard Monetary Units.
